Best Fits For Nolan Traore In The 2025 NBA Draft

March 5, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

While French guard Nolan Traore has fallen from the top five on most boards since the preseason, he has settled in the middle of the top 30 prospects over the past couple of months. His quickness, passing ability, and excellent motor are the attributes that keep him in first-round conversations in mock drafts. Not only that, but Traore has shown flashes of an all-around offensive game that will have teams interested in him. Let’s dive into the best fits for Nolan Traore among the teams currently owning first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Best Fits For Nolan Traore In The 2025 NBA Draft

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets would be the perfect fit for Traore and his development as a player. For the Nets, they need more quality talent to add to their roster. The team doesn’t have many players that can be long-term fits with high upside. Additionally, Brooklyn does not have a long-term fit at point guard either, which Traore can fill. With Traore, the Nets will certainly have a player like that for the future. Alongside the other four draft picks that the Nets have this draft, Traore can help move the Nets into a new era of Brooklyn basketball.

For Traore, the Brooklyn Nets are the perfect spot for him as a player. Particularly, given Brooklyn’s current rebuild, the Nets can serve as a place where Traore can develop his skills. Unquestionably, Traore has a lot of talent and high upside as an offensive player. However, he absolutely needs more development in order to take his game to the next level. Furthermore, Traore’s defensive prowess still needs work despite the high level of energy and effort he plays with. With the Nets, Traore will have the time and development that he needs to grow as a player.

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks, despite the uncertainty of the franchise moving forward, is a good spot for Traore. Specifically, the Mavericks need a long-term solution at point guard, regardless of that player being a starter or backup. Given Kyrie Irving‘s injury and age, his future with the franchise remains in doubt. Neither Spencer Dinwiddie nor Dante Exum are long-term pieces for the Mavericks. With Traore, the Mavericks can have a long-term solution at the point guard position. Also, it’s more important now for the Mavericks to draft and develop talent given how everything has gone down since the trade deadline.

On Traore’s end, the Mavericks will be a great place for him to develop, especially if they fall out of contention. He will get plenty of minutes and veteran leadership there. Additionally, Dallas has other young players like Dereck Lively II and Jaden Hardy that Traore can develop alongside. The Mavericks can be a place for him where he will get playing time and development.

Miami Heat

The Miami Heat and their developmental system would be an excellent fit for Traore. The Heat, similar to the Mavericks, do not have any long-term solution at point guard besides Davion Mitchell. Adding a player like Traore can help alleviate that situation and can add to the core of Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Kel’el Ware. Traore will get to benefit from playing in the Heat’s developmental system, which has pumped up many successful role players around the league. Additionally, he will get playing time due to the lack of real point guards on the roster. The fit is clear for Traore with the Miami Heat.
