Jrue Holiday Trade Price Revealed, 4 Teams Should Pay It

June 10, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Following Jayson Tatum’s injury, plenty of people around the NBA believe that the Boston Celtics will have to shed some salary. The Celtics are scheduled to pay a record tax bill. Last year, it was worth it because they won the championship title. This year, however, they failed, and next year, they will be without Tatum. One of the rumored players out is Jrue Holiday, and now, we know the trade price.

Jrue Holiday Trade Price Revealed, 4 Teams Should Pay It

Per several reports, the Celtics have a trade price of one first-round pick and some salary relief for Holiday. It is worth noting that the two teams that traded for Holiday in the past several years, the Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks, won a title immediately after. When the Celtics traded for Jrue, they gave Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, and two first-round picks, one in 2024 and one in 2029. With the price of one first-round pick, the Celtics are losing half of what they paid. But salary relief is crucial for a team over the second apron without their franchise player for next season. Here are five teams that should consider paying the price for Holiday.

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks will have a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate next season in Anthony Davis. They are in a win-now mode, according to their general manager. What better way to increase their chances than trading for one of the most impactful players in terms of winning in the past five years? They have tradeable picks in 2026, 29, and 31. A package centered around Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington, along with a pick, could be highly intriguing for the Celtics. Alternatively, the Mavs could package contracts like Caleb Martin, Jaden Hardy, and Naji Marshall. Trading for Holiday would benefit the Mavs as they lack point guard play with Kyrie Irving sidelined with an ACL injury to start next season.

Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors need just a bit more help from their bench to make one more push for a championship. With their core players all over 30, this might be the time to cash some chips and try to get a championship-caliber player. They have tradeable picks, but their challenge is finding contracts. With most of their salary tied up in Jimmy Butler, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green, the Warriors have only one more player making more than $10 million, and that is Moses Moody. Jrue will make $30+ million this year, making it hard to make a trade without getting a third team involved.

San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are widely rumored to be one of the most active teams in the offseason. There are already rumors floating around about a star trade for Kevin Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo. But should they also pay the trade price for Jrue Holiday? With an abundance of draft capital, the Spurs can easily find something for the Celtics. And because they are below the salary cap, they can take on Holiday’s contract and send someone like Harrison Barnes the other way.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers might be a sneaky suitor for several around-the-edge guys. They were one of the more interesting teams during the 2024-25 season. One of their strengths was their deep rotation. Last summer, the Clippers turned Paul George into several rotational players. But with James Harden running the point, the Clippers need someone to take on the defensive duties. Enter Holiday, who can play off the ball and on the ball. It might cost the Clippers either Bogdan Bogdanovic or Derrick Jones Jr, or even both, to pull off that trade. But Jrue is a championship-experienced player who wins everywhere he goes. This might be the final chance to win a title with Kawhi Leonard.
