The Dallas Mavericks are looking to even their series with the Utah Jazz at one game apiece tonight. They’ll have to do it without Luka Doncic.
Doncic was officially declared out for Game 2 a short time ago. He did not play in Game 1 on Saturday as he continues to recover from a calf strain suffered in the regular season finale on April 10.
Mavs fans have every right to be frustrated with the situation, because Doncic was hurt in the second half of an ultimately meaningless game right before the playoffs. As a result, he’ll miss at least two first round contests.
Dallas has to hope it won’t be any more than that.

Luka Doncic getting shots up pregame. No obvious signs of pain or grimacing but these are pretty stationary shooting drills.#MFFL @wfaa #Mavericks pic.twitter.com/qdLjjbok0t

With Doncic out on Saturday, Utah earned a 99-93 victory. They will look to go up 2-0 on the road and take a commanding series lead back to Salt Lake City.
Tipoff for Game 2 is set for 8:30 p.m. ET tonight on NBATV.
