Luka Doncic Suffers Injury: NBA World Reacts

April 11, 2022 by The Spun

The last thing you want to see on the final day of the NBA’s regular season is a injury to one of the league’s best players, but that’s what happened on Sunday night.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic left Sunday night’s game with a lower-leg injury. Doncic was holding his calf before getting helped off the floor and into the locker room.

The Mavericks have released an injury update, saying Doncic will not return to Sunday night’s game.

“Luka Dončić (left calf strain) will not return to tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs,” the Mavericks tweeted.

Mavericks fans are understandably concerned. However, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, there’s optimism that the injury isn’t a serious one.

“There’s initial optimism that Dallas star Luka Doncic hasn’t suffered a significant injury, source tells ESPN. Team is calling it a strained left calf,” the longtime NBA insider tweeted.

The Mavericks are 51-30 on the season, a half game back of the Golden State Warriors for the No. 4 spot in the playoffs.

The NBA’s postseason begins later this week.
