Sterling Brown signs a two year deal with the Dallas Mavericks, per report

We got one!

The Dallas Mavericks have added their first outside free agent, agreeing to terms with guard/forward Sterling Brown. Marc Stein reports it’s a 2 year deal worth $6.2 million.

Brown adds shooting depth, going 42.3% from three last year, plays some defense, and stars in the popular NBC drama This is Us. Last year was a bit of a shooting breakout for him, since he’d never exceeded 36% in his previous 3 NBA seasons.

A second round pick at 46th overall in 2017, Sterling is an SMU graduate and played for Jason Kidd in Milwaukee his rookie year. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report said last week that the Mavericks were considered the favorites to sign him.

While there are no fireworks here, this is the kind of move we can probably expect the Mavericks to make, adding useful depth at an affordable price. I’ll take it. In fact, I’m ordering a Sterling Brown jersey as we speak.
