The Golden State Warriors have considered making a run at trading for Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis. The Warriors have previously expressed interest in Davis, but have never been in a position to make a trade for him.
It’s still unknown if Dallas will be looking to trade Davis ahead of the February 5 trade deadline. The Mavs have taken a patient approach since firing GM Nico Harrison.
Putting together matching salary for Davis would be difficult for Golden State. The veteran big man makes $54.1 million this season. The Warriors are just $264 thousand below their second-apron hard cap.
It’s likely that Jonathan Kuminga and his $22.5 million salary would be part of a deal, but the Warriors would need to add quite a bit more. That means that trading Draymond Green as part of the outgoing package could be on the table for GM Mike Dunleavy Jr, as well.
