Jason Williams and TCU Volleyball will look to build off of a 2024 Round of 32 NCAA Tournament Appearance.
TCU Volleyball is set to start its 2025 campaign in just over a month with a chance to build off of a very successful 2024 season. Last year, the Frogs went 22-8 with a 13-5 record in the Big 12, good for fifth in the conference. TCU earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament and picked up a win in the first round over Hawaii. Head coach Jason Williams has this program humming and TCU should be firmly in the hunt for a Big 12 Title.
Schedule Overview
TCU’s first game of the season will come in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the State Farm Women’s College Volleyball Showcase against a Pitt team that made the Final Four in 2024 and finished as the number three team in the nation. The tournament will not get any easier for the Frogs as their next game is against the defending National Champs, Penn State. The Frogs will then return to Fort Worth for two home games against UCLA on Sept. 5-6.
In-state rival and 2024 Sweet Sixteen participant Texas A&M will travel to Fort Worth for a game against TCU on Sept. 10. The Frogs will host the Fight in the Fort Tournament the following weekend and face off against Wyoming, Rhode Island, and another 2024 Sweet Sixteen participant, Missouri. TCU will take on another tough opponent on the road against Texas on Sept. 17. The Frogs will close out their non-conference slate in Houston for the Rice Invitation where they will take on Cornell, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Rice.
The Frogs will open their Big 12 schedule at home against Houston who finished in the middle of the pack in the conference last season. A trip to Waco for a game against a tough Baylor team will follow on Sept. 27. The schedule will stay difficult as the Frogs take on a Kansas team that finished second in the Big 12 last season in their next game in Fort Worth. The Frogs will then hit the road for games at Texas Tech and UCF on Oct. 4 and 9, respectively.
TCU will next return to Fort Worth for a brief two game homestand with two very winnable games against Cincinnati and Kansas State. A tough road game at Kansas will be a test for the Frogs on Oct. 22 before a home game against a solid BYU team on Oct. 25. The Frogs will visit both Tempe and Tucson the following week with road games against Arizona State and Arizona. The Frogs will have a chance to pick up a big win in their next game as Utah will travel to Fort Worth on Nov. 7.
TCU will then host a West Virginia team that finished dead last in the Big 12 last season before heading to Boulder for a game against Colorado on Nov. 13. TCU will continue north for their next game against Iowa State in Ames before two very important home games late in the season against Texas Tech and Baylor the following week. The Frogs will end their regular season with a road game against Houston on Nov. 29.

Key Returners
Outside hitter Jalyn Gibson returns for her senior season after finishing second on the team in kills in 2024 with 380, first on the team in digs with 330, and third on the team in blocks with 73. Expect Gibson to see an uptick in production with the graduation of 2024 Big 12 player of the year Melanie Parra. Becca Kelley will also be part of the equation at outside hitter after finishing third on the team in kills during her redshirt freshman season in 2024.
Sarah Sylvester and Alexis Roberson both return to anchor the middle blocker position. Roberson finished fourth on the team in kills with 121 while Sylvester provided excellent defense, leading the team in blocks with 146. Libero Alice Volpe returns after a very solid true freshman season that saw her finish second on the team in digs with 308 and third on the team in assists with 70. Outside hitter Evan Hendrix should see an expanded role after tallying 96 kills in her true freshman season.

Key Additions
The transfer who should make the most immediate impact for the Frogs is setter from Pepperdine, Rosemary Archer. Archer had a very solid sophomore season in 2024, tallying 970 assists and will have a good chance to see plenty of playing time for the Frogs in 2025. The most exciting addition the Frogs made this offseason, however, was high school recruit Samara Coleman from Spring, Texas. The outside hitter was ranked as the number 11 player nationally in the 2025 class, was named an AVCA First Team High School All-American and a MaxPreps All-American, and should be a big contributor for the Frogs this season.
TCU also added the number one high school recruit from the state of Oklahoma in Anna Rice. Rice tallied over 900 kills during her high school career and should be a big part of the rotation at opposite hitter for TCU.
Overall
While the Frogs lost a superstar in Melanie Parra to graduation, Jason Williams did an excellent job reloading with a great high school recruiting class and a few productive transfers. TCU has a very tough schedule from start to finish meaning the record might dip a bit from 2024, but the Frogs will be battle tested heading into any postseason berth in 2025.
