3* safety prospect Ja’Dais Richard commits to TCU Football

Open up the pipeline! The Boot is sending another defensive star to Funky Town.

Gary Patterson and his staff have done an incredible job recruiting Louisiana, and annually pull in some of the best defenders from The Boot into their program. They did that again Friday, earning a verbal commitment from safety Ja’Dais Richard, one of the best defensive backfield playmakers in the state.

Richard is the sixth commit in the class of ‘22, a unit that is split evenly amongst offensive and defensive players. The 6’1” prospect is another potential great find for GP and co; with eight offers — including three from Power Five schools (Baylor and Indiana are the others) — Richard doesn’t necessarily have all the hype yet, but if Patterson and Dave Aranda — who know LA prospects well — want you, you have to be something special.

A top 50 player in the state, Richard has shined for West Monroe, a school that has produced several TCU defensive greats — including Chucky Hunter, Terrell Lathan and James McFarland. Starting his career at cornerback, the speedy Richard — who ran a 4.45 40 at TCU’s camp this summer — is excellent in the open field and strong enough to press wide receivers at the line, while possessing the speed to make sure they don’t run by him. A three sport athlete, he was first team all-district in basketball and second team all-state in addition to running the 100-meter dash and the 4X100 meter-relay in track. He helped lead a defense last season that allowed just 14.1 points per game and has a state championship on the mind for 2021.
