
The two-time All-Big 12 honoree becomes the second Horned Frog to come off the draft board.
TCU shortstop Anthony Silva became the second Horned Frog to hear his named called during the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday. The defensive maestro from San Antonio was taken by the Cleveland Guardians in the 14th round with the 432nd overall choice. An All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2025, Silva ended his junior season with a .283/.350/.425 slash line while hitting six homers and recording 38 RBIs. Over three years at TCU, Silva posted 186 hits and 40 stolen bases along with a .296 career average and a .379 career on-base mark.

Silva shined during his freshman season in 2023, receiving an All-Big 12 Second Team award after posting a career-best .330 batting average with seven homers and 50 RBIs. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound infielder has been a mainstay over the last three years in Fort Worth, starting 168 games over 171 career appearances. As a first-year Horned Frog, Silva was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team and took home multiple Freshman All-American awards during the 2023 season, when TCU advanced to the College World Series.
