As we count down the days until kickoff, we’ll highlight a former (or current) Horned Frog whose jersey number represents the number of days left until the opener.

50 – Martin Patterson (Linebacker – 2001-04)
The DeSoto, Texas native played in 40 games over four seasons with the Horned Frogs, hitting triple digits in tackles during the 2003 and 2004 campaigns. Patterson emerged during his sophomore season in 2002, when he helped TCU win a Conference USA title and defeat Colorado State in the Liberty Bowl. A machine during his time with the Horned Frogs, Patterson finished with 289 total tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks along with eight pass breakups, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception.
Patterson was named an All-CUSA Second Team honoree during his senior season in 2004, when he posted a career-high 131 total tackles (the most on the team) including 76 total tackles. As a junior in 2003, Patterson finished with 103 total tackles and a career-best 14.5 tackles for loss.
