Former TCU offensive lineman Marcus Cannon is a three-time Super Bowl champion.
The TCU Horned Frogs are less than 100 days from kicking off the 2025 football season with a nonconference road matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels and new head coach Bill Belichick. As we count down the days until kickoff, we’ll highlight a former (or current) Horned Frog whose jersey number represents the number of days left until the opener.

61 – Marcus Cannon (Offensive Lineman – 2006-10)
Cannon was with the Horned Frogs for five years, playing right tackle for three seasons before moving to left tackle as a redshirt senior in 2010, when he was named a Third-Team All-American. A three-time All-MWC honoree, Cannon didn’t allow a single sack in 2009 and played on an offensive line that allowed only nine sacks in 2010. Hailing from Odessa, Texas, Cannon was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma before the draft, Cannon spent a chunk of his rookie season on the non-football injury list while recovering from chemotherapy. Selected as New England’s Ed Block Courage Award winner, Cannon went on to play in 124 NFL games and earn 77 starts, mostly at right tackle. Cannon is a three-time Super Bowl champion who helped the Patriots win Super Bowls XLIX, LI and LIII.
Cannon played nine seasons for the Patriots before opting out of the COVID season and being traded to the Houston Texans in 2021. After appearing in four games for the Texans in 2021, Cannon returned to the Patriots and played his final season in 2022.
