Lineman Don Floyd was a two-time All-American and a two-time First-Team All-SWC player in 1958 and 1959.
The TCU Horned Frogs are less than 100 days from kicking off the 2025 football season with a nonconference road matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels and new head coach Bill Belichick. As we count down the days until kickoff, we’ll highlight a former (or current) Horned Frog whose jersey number represents the number of days left until the opener.

75 – Don Floyd (Offensive & Defensive Lineman – 1957-59)
One of the most stories two-way players for the Horned Frogs, Floyd shined at defensive tackle and on the offensive line, earning First-Team All-Southwest Conference and All-American honors over both the 1958 and 1959 seasons. A TCU Athletic Hall of Famer, Floyd was drafted into both the NFL (Baltimore Colts) and the AFL (Houston Oilers) in 1960, but opted to play for the Oilers. During his professional career with the Oilers, Floyd played in 97 games and made 83 starts, recording four interceptions and scoring two touchdowns.
As a member of the Oilers, Floyd earned First-Team All-AFL honors in 1961 and 1962 while helping Houston win the AFL championships during each of those two years. A two-time AFL All-Star in 1961 and 1962, Floyd is on the Houston Oilers All-Time Team. His AFL career concluded in 1967 and he was inducted into the TCU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.
