The TCU Horned Frogs are less than 100 days from kicking off the 2025 football season with a nonconference road matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels and new head coach Bill Belichick. As we count down the days until kickoff, we’ll highlight a former (or current) Horned Frog whose jersey number represents the number of days left until the opener.

57 – Davion Pierson (Defensive Lineman – 2011-15)
A five-year member of the Horned Frogs, Pierson teamed up with defensive lineman Chucky Hunter to become a terrific tandem in the trenches. Pierson became a starter during the 2012 season, when the Oklahoma City native finished with 36 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks as a redshirt freshman. Pierson was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2014, when he helped TCU finish as Big 12 co-champions and Peach Bowl champions.
Pierson went on to play in 47 collegiate games with 40 starts, concluding his TCU career with 127 total tackles, 26.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. Pierson’s final game with the Horned Frogs was the 2016 Alamo Bowl, when the talented defensive tackle posted five tackles and one tackle for loss during the team’s comeback win over Oregon.
