The East Carolina transfer will have an opportunity in the Canadian Football League
TCU Football defensive lineman Rick D’Abreu has signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. D’Abreu joined the Horned Frogs for the 2023 season after four seasons at East Carolina, recording 12 tackles (4.5 for loss) and 0.5 in his ten games played for TCU.

The six-foot-two, 280 pound defensive lineman participated in the 2024 College Gridiron Showcase in Fort Worth, TX and the Big 12 Pro Day in Frisco, TX. D’Abreu joins a Winnipeg squad that finished the regular season atop the West Division, earning a Bye into the West Final. The Blue Bombers defeated the BC Lions to advance to the Grey Cup championship game, falling to former TCU DL Lwal Uguak & the Montreal Alouettes. Winnipeg opens its 2024 preseason schedule on May 20 at the Saskatchewan Roughriders and opens the regular season at home in a Grey Cup rematch vs. the Alouettes.
