Frogs in the Pros: Ross Blacklock secures first strip-sack with Houston Texans

The former TCU defensive tackle and second-round draft pick made a highlight play against the Panthers on Thursday.

Former TCU defensive tackle Ross Blacklock made the first highlight play of his NFL career on Thursday, strip-sacking Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold for one of two strip-sacks forced by the Houston Texans during the first half. It was the first career sack and forced fumble for Blacklock, who Houston took in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Blacklock was relatively quiet during his rookie season, totaling 14 tackles in 15 games and serving mainly as a rotational tackle for the Houston defensive front. The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder will look to take a sophomore leap this season, particularly with the Texans no longer trotting out All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt on the edge. Through three games, Blacklock has five total tackles, but he remains behind Maliek Collins on the depth chart.

Ty Summers notches three tackles for Green Bay

The former Horned Frog linebacker and third-year pro saw increased reps against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football after Green Bay Packers linebacker Krys Barnes exited the contest with a concussion. Summers finished with three total tackles, but was challenged in the passing game and missed a few tackles. However, what was cool was seeing Summers (who wears No. 44) take down Niners fullback Kyle Juszczyk (also No. 44). Should Barnes miss more time, Summers could see a larger role on the Packers defense.

Jalen Reagor catches five passes against Dallas

The speedy wide receiver totaled 53 receiving yards during Monday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, who dominated the game to win 41-14. Despite the Eagles looking lost (and only running the ball with Miles Sanders twice) offensively, Reagor has accumulated 13 catches for 107 yards and one touchdown through the first three games of the 2021 season. The former first-rounder will look to continue amping up his production as Philadelphia attempts to rebound from a 1-2 start to the season.
