The Horned Frogs will host the Fighting Irish in December 2025.

The TCU Horned Frogs schedule is slowly but surely coming together. After being announced to compete against reigning National Champion Florida, Wisconsin, and Providence in the 2025 Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego, the Horned Frogs’ Big 12 matchups were revealed.

Now, TCU’s next non-conference opponent has been unveiled. The Frogs will compete against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a home-and-home series, with the first matchup slated for December 5 in Fort Worth. TCU will travel to South Bend to take on the Fighting Irish once more on the same date in 2026.

The Horned Frogs have only squared off against the Fighting Irish five times in program history. TCU is 0-5 versus Notre Dame, with the most recent matchup in 1997. TCU has only hosted Notre Dame once, dating back to 1980.

Despite being a historically successful program, the Fighting Irish have struggled since Mike Brey’s departure in 2023. Notre Dame is merely 28-38 over the last two campaigns. Moreover, the Fighting Irish have made one NCAA Tournament appearance in the previous eight seasons. Comparatively, TCU is 37-29 over the past two seasons, earning four tournament bids in the last eight years—all under Jamie Dixon’s watch.

Amid a rapidly changing collegiate landscape, the Fighting Irish will see plenty of continuity heading into the 2025-26 season. Over 55 percent of Notre Dame’s scoring will return from a season ago, the highest mark in the ACC, including Markus Burton, who averaged 21.3 points per game a season ago.

Conversely, TCU will return only 28.1% percent of its scoring from a season ago. The Horned Frogs will rely on internal improvement, namely from returning freshmen, David Punch, Micah Robinson, Jace Posey, and Malick Diallo. Furthermore, the Horned Frogs added numerous intriguing transfers, headlined by Jayden Pierre and Brock Harding.

With the Horned Frogs already slated to take on Florida, Providence, and Wisconsin in the Rady Children’s Invitational, Notre Dame is yet another arduous opponent added to arguably the most rigorous non-conference schedule in recent memory. All in all, TCU’s non-conference slate will ultimately battle-test the Frogs before the forever-difficult Big 12 schedule.
