Women’s Basketball: San Diego State transfer guard Veronica Sheffey commits to TCU

The Horned Frogs’ stellar recruiting run in the portal continued Monday afternoon.

TCU women’s basketball’s stellar recruiting run in the transfer portal continued Monday afternoon, with multiple reports indicating that San Diego State junior guard Veronica Sheffey has committed to the Horned Frogs. Sheffey averaged 11.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor and 36.6 percent from 3-point range during the 2024-25 season. Sheffey, who started all 35 games she played for the Aztecs this season, is the sixth transfer to join the Horned Frogs this offseason, following Olivia Miles, Taliyah Parker, Marta Suarez, Clara Silva and Kennedy Basham.

Sheffey started her collegiate career at the University of San Diego, where the Woodinville, Washington native played two seasons and started 31 games before transferring to San Diego State. Sheffey earned All-Mountain West honors during the 2024-25 season and was an All-WCC Second Team selection during the 2023-24 season at San Diego. Moreover, Sheffey was named to the WCC All-Freshman Team during the 2022-23 campaign. The 5-foot-9 guard has improved her 3-point shot during the course of her collegiate career, knocking down nearly 37 percent of her triples after making 30.6 percent in 2023-24.
