Women’s Basketball: TCU downs ACU to achieve second-longest winning streak in team history

A tough second quarter didn’t slow the Horned Frogs down, with TCU emerging victorious 77-60.

A strong second-quarter surge from Abilene Christian didn’t prevent the TCU women’s basketball team from securing its ninth consecutive win on Tuesday evening. Despite being outscored 26-11 in the second quarter, the Horned Frogs rebounded with a better effort in the second half, ultimately winning 77-60 over the Wildcats to remain undefeated. TCU moved to 9-0 overall with the victory, clinching the second-longest winning streak in team history. The Horned Frogs will shoot for 10 in a row when they host Prairie View on Sunday.

Sedona Prince dominated the painted area on Tuesday, blocking a season-best 10 shots and becoming the NCAA’s single-game leader for rejections along the way. The 6-foot-7 center added 24 points and seven rebounds as she flirted with a rare points-rebounds-blocks triple-double. Madison Conner remained red hot from the field, scoring a team-high 29 points on 10-of-20 shooting and 9-of-19 shooting from 3-point range. With her nine triples made, Conner surpassed Iowa star Caitlin Clark as the No. 1 player in women’s hoops with 46 triples made. Conner is also shooting an incredible 46 percent from beyond the arc.

Jaden Owens handed out a team-high 11 assists for the Horned Frogs, who recorded 22 total assists in the win over the Wildcats. Owens, who reached double-digit assists for the second game in a row, chipped in five points while forward Agnes Emma-Nnopu scored seven points and grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds. TCU outrebounded Abilene Christian 41-29 and forced 13 Wildcat turnovers in the victory. Despite a tough second quarter, TCU blew Abilene Christian away in the first quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 26-7 over that time. Aaliyah Roberson led the Horned Frogs off the bench, totaling six points and six rebounds.
