A ninth-inning grand slam by Jalin Flores pushed the Longhorns past the Bobcats in San Marcos.
In a thrilling midweek showdown, the No. 1 Texas Longhorns edged out the Texas State Bobcats 14–11 in a high-scoring affair at Bobcat Ballpark in San Marcos. The game featured explosive offenses, dramatic momentum swings, and a resilient performance from the Longhorns.
Early action and Bobcat surge
The Bobcats took an early 4–0 lead by the end of the fourth inning, highlighted by two home runs in the first and fourth innings from first baseman Coy DeFury and infielder Zachary Gingrich in the second inning, an unusual power display by a team that entered the game with a .366 slugging percentage and 27 home runs on the year.
However, Texas responded swiftly, plating four runs in the fifth inning with shortstop Jalin Flores, center fielder Will Gasparino, and third baseman Casey Borba knocking in runs.
Texas State third baseman Chase Mora delivered a grand slam to left center, propelling the Bobcats to a 9–4 advantage at the bottom of the sixth.
Texas answered back in the seventh inning with a four-run inning of their own with an RBI from first baseman Kimble Schuessler, capped by a massive three-run home run from Borba, but not without the Bobcats scoring two runs of their own at the bottom of the seventh making the game 11-8 in favor of the home team.

Uphill battle
Texas State managed to hold their lead through the eighth inning even though Texas forced Bobcats closer Carson Law to throw 42 pitches to avoid a six-out save. A two-run home run by Rylan Galvan narrowed the margin to a single run, but after walking the bases loaded, right fielder Tommy Farmer flied out to left center to end the inning.
In the top of the ninth, Texas capitalized with plate discipline and smart base running against weekend starter Jesus Tovar as left fielder Jayden Duplantier drew a full-count walk, designated hitter Ethan Mendoza reached on an error, both runners advanced on a double steal, and Galvan fouled off four straight 3-2 pitches before drawing a walk.
With the bases. Flores took advantage of a 1-2 breaking ball that Tovar intended to back door, but hung for a grand slam to center field, pushing the Longhorns to a 14–11 victory.

Looking ahead
With the win, Texas improved its record to 34–5 and avoided a third midweek loss.
