With the College Football Playoff less than a month away, ESPN’s Booger McFarland is all in on the Texas Longhorns.

During an appearance on the “Always College Football” podcast, McFarland was asked to rank the four teams in the CFP. He gave the No. 1 spot to Texas.

“Texas,” McFarland responded. “If I just had to rank the four teams based on the eye test and the talent, I think Texas is No. 1.”

Even though McFarland has a ton of confidence in Texas, he still has one major concern about Steve Sarkisian’s squad heading into the Sugar Bowl.

“If you’re Washington, at some point when this game is not basketball on grass, can you stop big-boy football? If you’re Texas, can your back seven guard anyone? Because I saw Donovan Smith and Houston throw for 300 yards.”

Texas flexed its muscles in the Big 12 Championship, defeating Oklahoma State by 28 points. Quinn Ewers was sensational, completing 35-of-46 passes for 452 yards with four touchdowns and an interception.

In order to win a national championship, Texas will need to play complementary football. We’ll see if the Longhorns can do just that.
