We’re just over a week away from the first edition of the Red River Showdown with Oklahoma and Texas serving as members of the SEC. But the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas might need some maintenance before the big game.
On Friday, The Athletic’s Chris Vannini posted a photo from the field at the Cotton Bowl, showing that one of the goalposts was left leaning heavily to one side. Vannini couldn’t help but express how amused he was by the sight and hopes that they keep it that way.
“I hope they don’t fix the Cotton Bowl goalposts for next week,” Vannini wrote.

A number of fans are eager to see what a game between the two sides might look like if they were to play under these conditions.
“Leave them like this, Red River could use some on-field ground rules like baseball stadiums have,” Sickos Committee wrote.
“Just imagine the chaos missing wide right would cause,” another mused.
“Should make things interesting at least,” RedditCFB added.
It should be a great game between two teams that are quickly proving that they more than belong in the SEC. Texas is unbeaten and the No. 2 team in the country while Oklahoma’s lone blemish is a loss to Tennessee – a top five team.
We’ve seen plenty of Red River Showdowns when the stakes were high, but as the SEC love to say, “It just means more.”
