The Horns host the Aggies on the Friday after Thanksgiving for the first time in nearly 20 years.
The first matchup between the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies in Austin since 2010 will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Central on Friday, November 28, the schools announced on Thursday.
With last year’s version of the Lone Star Showdown held on a Saturday in College Station, the 2025 game between the longtime rivals is the first on the Friday after Thanksgiving since the 2007 contest at Kyle Field, the final season in a 12-year run of Friday games between the Longhorns and Aggies before playing on Thanksgiving from 2008 to 2011, when Texas A&M left for the SEC.
In total, 84 of Texas’ 119 meetings with Texas A&M have been on Thanksgiving or the day after, including 14 Friday matchups. The all-time series dates back to 1894 with the Longhorns holding a 77-37-5 advantage, including a 46-12-1 edge in Austin, although the last meeting at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium was a 12-7 win by the Aggies in 2010.
