The Longhorns landed one of the best specialists in the class Sunday
Continuing the momentum of the first weekend of summer visits, the Texas Longhorns added one of the best kickers in the country with the commitment of Jake Collett.

While unranked by On3 and 247Sports recruiting services, specialist recruiting service Kohl’s Professional Camps ranks him as a five-star and the No. 2 kicker in the country. The specialist held offers to three schools, but took just one visit and committed before leaving Austin. His highlight reel features a long of 52 yards and an ability to hit from both hash marks, something that Texas’s special teams sorely needed in recent years.
Collett’s addition to the class should give the Longhorns’ consistency in the kicking room, something that fans and coaches can agree is sorely needed after last year’s kicking struggles in the postseason.
His addition marks Jeff Banks’s second addition to the 2026 class, joining long snapper Trott O’Neal (Plano), who joined the class at the beginning of May. Collett is commitment No. 10 for the 2026 class and the second of the weekend, joining four-star defensive lineman Dylann Berrymon, who made a pledge while on campus Saturday.
Texas is looking to follow up on 2025’s top class in the country and mark its fifth-consecutive top 5 class, a streak that started in Steve Sarkisian’s first full class at Texas. The June visits, which have already generated results for Texas, will go a long way toward determining if the Longhorns can extend their streak.
