Despite Texas struggling to get off the ground so far in the Steve Sarkisian era, ESPN’s Football Power Index still sees the Longhorns as the team to beat in the Big 12.
The network recently revealed its predictions for each of the conferences; and with Lincoln Riley in Tinseltown, the Big 12 crown is UT’s for the taking.
ESPN’s FPI gives Texas a 41 percent chance of capturing the conference title. Followed by Oklahoma (27), Oklahoma State (14.1), Baylor (8.7) and Iowa State (5.3) to round out the top five.

As far as the College Football Playoff, the ESPN FPI gives the Longhorns 21 percent odds to grab one of those final four spots. The Sooners are the only other team in the Big 12 with a double-digit percentage to qualify (12.6)
The computer expects Texas to win over nine games in 2022. Something the program has done just one time over the past decade.
