Red spent last season at Nevada after leaving Texas
Former Texas Longhorns running back Savion Red has so far had something of a journeyman career as a college athlete.
First, Red signed at Texas in 2022. He would go on to redshirt season and then see limited playing time in 2023. From there, Red decided to hit the NCAA Transfer Portal. Later, he joined Nevada.
But things didn’t seem to quite pan out at Nevada for Red.
Despite amassing more than 700 offensive all-purpose yards at Nevada in 2024, Red once against decided to take his talents to the portal. Now, he’s landed at Sacramento State.
Unfortunately for Red, he’s consistently downgraded division size with each portal move. Texas, of course, is considered among the Power Four conferences as a member of the SEC (however, during Red’s time in Austin, Texas was still a member of the Big 12 Conference.) Nevada is a member of the next largest, albeit unofficial division, the Group of Five.
And Sacramento State is an FCS team.
Fortunately for Red, Sacramento State is making its playing at moving up to FBS.
