Coveted linebacker set to decide tomorrow.
Another priority Longhorn recruit is set to come off the board soon. Four-star Marrieta (GA) Kell linebacker Brayden Rouse announced earlier today that he will be making his college decision tomorrow night after making his round of official visits over the summer.
Rouse is set to decide between Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, and Texas, with the Vols receiving the last official visit at the end of June.
I will be committing tomorrow, July 8 at 7:00 PM in the theater at Kell High School. All are welcome. Please DM any media requests to my dad, Coach Chris Pack through DM on X (formally known as Twitter.) @Coach_Pack78. #WheresHome #DMGB @Kell_Football @KellHSRecruits pic.twitter.com/vz6Ic6Vz94

The Longhorns recorded their first recruiting win at the linebacker position this past week after Kosi Okpala’s commitment to the burnt orange and white, but it has been a bit of a sketchy cycle overall for the staff as they have been trying to gain traction. The Longhorns came up short in their pursuit for five-star linebacker Xavier Griffin, who chose to commit to Alabama. Needless to say the recruitments of guys like Rouse and Tyler Atkinson have more urgency around them.

Texas needs to land a true off-the-ball linebacker in this class and Rouse fits that bill, but they are going to have to wrangle him away from Tennessee, who has long been viewed as the favorite in this recruitment.

Longhorn fans could use some good news on the recruiting trail given how the past week went in other recruitments. There has reportedly been some ground made up by Texas in this recruitment over the past week with Rouse and his family deliberating, but things appear to be tightly guarded heading into his decision.
If the Longhorns are able to pull the upset tomorrow, it would be a very nice win for Steve Sarkisian and his staff and it would definitely get the bitter taste out of the mouths of Longhorn fans.
