Halter and Stafford named to Volleyball’s All-SEC Preseason Team

Texas picked to finish second in SEC in Coaches’ Poll

Two Texas Longhorns have been selected to the all-SEC preseason team; junior-outside hitter Torrey Stafford and senior-libero Emma Halter.

Stafford led Pitt during the 2024 season with a .358 hitting percentage, was an AVCA National Player of the Year semifinalist and was second in team points with 457.5 and 400 kills. As an AVCA First Team All-American and All-ACC First Team honoree, Stafford was selected to her first SEC Preseason Team and is one of two First-Team All-Americans, joining Brooklyn Deleye of Kentucky.

Halter, a two time preseason honoree led the Longhorns in 2024 season with 344 digs and 30 service aces with a total of 109 aces. As well as recording the third-most assist per-set with 1.10.

Texas volleyball has been selected to finish second in the SEC preseason coaches poll with Kentucky as the preseason favorites. Texas claimed six first place votes with 216 points to claim second, while Kentucky received nine of the 16 first place votes with 218 points to secure the number one spot with Texas A&M snagging third with one first place vote with 195 points.

Longhorn volleyball officially begins on August 29 with the Opening Spike Classic against Creighton at 8:30 pm CT in Madison, WI at the Kohl Center. The Longhorns have two preseason games, an exhibition match against the Utah Utes on August 15 at 12 pm CT and the Orange and White scrimmage on August 23 at 10 am CT, both held at Gregory Gymnasium at the 40 acres.
