The Longhorns are hosting another old Southwest Conference rival in Austin.
The Texas Longhorns are coming off of one of the most embarrassing losses in recent memory and need to find some answers quickly or things could get dicey in the first year of the Steve Sarkisian era. Thankfully, the Longhorns may have a bit of a get-right game against another old Southwest Conference foe in the Rice Owls.
Rice is coming off of being blown out by their crosstown rival, the Houston Cougars, 44-7. They have struggled to find their footing on both sides of the ball, struggled limiting turnovers and even on special teams. They will come in with a chip on their shoulders and something to prove on Saturday.

Well, making the most of his limited opportunities have, at long last, opened the door for the opportunity he’s been waiting and preparing for since January 2018 — to lead the Longhorns as QB1.
It’s here, and it’s up to him to make the most of this one, because it will mean a little more.
“We didn’t trust our principles and trust our training and fall back on the things that we had been building for eight months,” Sarkisian said. “That’s something that we have to get fixed. I don’t think it was about manpower or physicality or talent. It was doing what you’re supposed to do down in and down out and that’s a very fixable problem.”
