The Horns added some depth at the catcher position following the transfer of Cole Chamberlain.
In the fast-moving world of the NCAA transfer portal, the Texas Longhorns landed one of the nation’s top catchers in Notre Dame Fighting Irish transfer Carson Tinney on Monday, saw Cole Chamberlain entered the portal on Tuesday as a result of Tinney’s decision, and in turn secured a commitment from Temple College product Andrew Ermis on Wednesday.
Super excited to announce my commitment to the University of Texas! Huge thanks to my family, coaches and teammates that have always stuck by my side through this process. Thankful to be blessed with this opportunity. Hook em pic.twitter.com/ShsRSbMCoc

With two seasons of eligibility remaining, Ermis has some versatility because he can also play first base.
Ermis adds depth to a position that projects to include Tinney and incoming 2025 signee Preston Courville in addition to Georgia State transfer Kaleb Freeman, who can play multiple positions.
A 6’2, 210-pounder who bats from the right side, Ermis signed with Temple College out of San Antonio Reagan ranked as the No. 24 catcher in the state by Perfect Game.
Ermis hit .235 with four doubles, six home runs, 36 RBI, and 24 walks in 28 games for the Leopards as a freshman in 2024 before boosting his slash line to .338/.479/.588 with seven doubles, 10 home runs, and 41 RBI. Ermis also stole six bases and maintained a solid strikeout-to-walk ratio of 36-to-19.
