Brooks passed a breath test on the scene, but was deemed “intoxicated due to the introduction of cannabis/CNS depressants.”
Following the DWI arrest of Texas Longhorns early enrollee offensive tackle Nick Brooks early Sunday, more details emerged about the arrest, according the affidavit from the Austin Police Department.
Brooks was pulled over after 2 a.m. for traveling 47 mph in a 30 mph zone on West 6th Street and passed a breathalyzer test administered at the scene, but had a marijuana vape pen in his pocket admitted to smoking a blunt before driving and was deemed “intoxicated due to the introduction of cannabis/CNS depressants.”
After Brooks was pulled over, he proceeded to make some remarkable admissions to the arresting officer.
The club that Brooks was coming from “makes exceptions for UT football players,” Brooks said, continuing to say that he was taking recruits on unofficial visits to a strip club.
Brooks failed field sobriety tests at the scene, including body tremors while trying to stand on one leg.
Brooks was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class ranked as the No. 238 player nationally and the No. 25 offensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Georgia and USC hosted the Loganville (Ga.) Grayson product on official visits prior to his commitment to Texas.
