The California native wrapped up his visit to the Fort Acres on Thursday.
After hosting former TCU Horned Frogs defensive tackle Damonic Williams on an official visit that concluded on Thursday, the Texas Longhorns are the “clear leader” for the 6’2, 230-pounder, according to a report from On3.
While Williams was in Austin, he stayed at the Four Seasons like most recruits. Unlike most recruits, there was a Lamborgini Urus provided for him. Williams also enjoyed a dinner at Vince Young Steakhouse with head coach Steve Sarkisian.
Willams already visited Oklahoma last weekend, but Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods reports that Williams will no longer visit Colorado, instead scheduling trips to LSU and Missouri in addition to a potential trip to Oregon reported by On3. If the Longhorns are indeed the leaders for William heading into those trips and a decision coming next week, he told Orangebloods, the Sooners are likely trailing and in a poor position with the dual sets of Tigers able to make impressions closer to the commitment from Williams.
Since defensive tackle Jay Toia decided to return to UCLA despite visiting Texas over the weekend, Williams is the remaining transfer portal target for the Longhorns after Wildcats transfer Bill Norton committed on Monday.
Sarkisian made it clear following the Orange-White game on Saturday that adding depth at the position remains a priority, but Williams is more than just depth — he’s talented and proven enough to slot as the favorite to win a starting job next to super senior Alfred Collins were he to commit to Texas.
