Additionally, freshman cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem suffered a season-ending knee injury against Rice.
Heading into Big 12 play, the Texas Longhorns remain mostly healthy at key positions, with the exception of one area of need — wide receiver — as the Longhorns struggle to create explosive plays in the passing game.
Redshirt freshman Troy Omeire, a contender for a starting job until a knee injury sustained in preseason camp, will miss a fourth straight game when Texas plays Texas Tech in Austin on Saturday. Omeire was listed as the third-team wide receiver on the Louisiana depth chart, behind freshman Xavier Worthy and redshirt freshman Kelvontay Dixon.
A Longhorns player also suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Owls — freshman cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem appeared to tear his ACL late in the game. Ibraheem was the fourth-team cornerback senior Josh Thompson, super senior Darion Dunn, and sophomore cornerback Kitan Crawford.
Another Texas cornerback will miss the Tech game with sophomore Jahdae Barron out for a second straight game due to a knee injury. A key special teams contributor, Barron opened the season as the second-team cornerback behind senior D’Shawn Jamison.
