The former Texas A&M pledge flipped to Texas after Jim Schlossnagle arrived in Austin, but only made six appearances for the Longhorns.
Texas Longhorns left-handed pitcher Bryce Navarre entered the NCAA transfer portal as it closed at the end of June, some final attrition for head coach Jim Schlossnagle and his staff ahead of the 2025 MLB Draft this month.
TRANSFER: Texas LHP Bryce Navarre has entered the portal.
Worked just 6.2 IP in 2025 as a true freshman and struggled with walks.
I saw Navarre four times as a high school senior and he consistently dominated the opposition. A fresh start and more opportunity will do him good. https://t.co/23BkSWvz3r

Ranked just outside the top 150 prospects by Perfect Game, Navarre was considered the No. 19 left-handed pitcher in the 2024 recruiting class and represented a significant coup for Schlossnagle and pitching coach Max Weiner when he flipped from Texas A&M after Schlossnagle and Weiner left College Station for Austin.
A participant in the 2024 MLB Draft Combine, Navarre was considered a high-level prospect because of his elite curveball, although his fastball was certainly less dominant, typically working in the high 80s.
Navarre struggled as a freshman, making just six appearances and posting an 8.10 ERA and 2.10 WHIP in 6.2 innings, striking out six while walking eight batters and throwing a wild pitch.
Of those six appearances, only one came in conference play as Navarre received midweek opportunities in relief against UT Arlington, UTSA, and Texas State, allowing a run against the Mavericks, three runs against the Roadrunners in 0.1 innings, and two runs against the Bobcats in 0.2 innings.
Now, as Joe Doyle noted, Navarre may benefit from a fresh start and more opportunities.
