The Georgia State transfer committed to head coach Jim Schlossnagle last month.
With the No. 466 selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, the Chicago White Sox selected former Georgia State Panthers outfielder Kaleb Freeman.
Freeman committed to Texas last month out of the NCAA transfer portal, but there is already speculation that he could sign with the White Sox.
The White Sox 16th round selection is OF Kaleb Freeman, from Georgia State!
Freeman has big time bat speed and power, with a solid approach at the plate. He’s a switch hitter who is better as a LHH. Currently set to transfer to Texas, but should sign. pic.twitter.com/2oDBQY0hry

Hailing from northeast of Atlanta, Freeman signed with North Georgia and hit .300 in 2022, playing 22 games at catcher, two at third base, and two as the designated hitter.
The following season at St. John’s River State, Freeman was a 2023 NJCAA DII Second Team All-America, leading the team in the majority of offensive categories, including average (.375), on-base percentage (.548), slugging (.755), runs (75), doubles (29), and tying for the lead in home runs (15). Freeman’s 71 talks led NJCAA DII.
A transfer to Auburn didn’t work out particularly well, as the 6’0, 203-pounder hit .200 in 14 games, including six starts, prompting a transfer down to Georgia State, where he hit .349 with 16 home runs, 28 doubles, and 46 RBI in 56 starts, setting Georgia State single-season records with 28 doubles and 61 walks while leading the team in slugging percentage (.732), on-base percentage (.504), hits (73), and runs (65).
