A Santa Monica (Calif.) Oaks Christian product, Farmer signed with Texas as a member of the 2023 recruiting class ranked as the No. 500 player nationally and the No. 106 outfielder, according to Perfect Game.
As a freshman, the 6’3, 208-pounder played sparingly, appearing in 16 games with three starts, hitting .200 in 20 at bats with four runs scored and three RBI.
Under the new coaching staff in 2025, Farmer became a regular starter, primarily seeing playing time in left right and right field after the injury to Max Belyeu, appearing in 58 games with 48 starts. While Farmer played well in the outfield, he struggled at the plate, slashing .249/.339/.512 with 13 doubles, one home run, and 25 RBI. Contact was a particularly problem, as Farmer struck out 65 times, second most on the team, at a rate of 36.7 percent. When Farmer did get on base, he struggled to translate his elite speed into a consistent ability to steal bases, going 7-for-12.
Farmer is the sixth Texas player to enter the transfer portal since the season ended on Sunday and the first major contributor from the 2025 team to depart.
