The Oakland product recorded seven interceptions over his first two seasons split between Cal Poly and San Jose State.
Following the departure of projected starter Terrance Brooks to the NCAA transfer portal last week, the Texas Longhorns are set to host San Jose State Spartans transfer cornerback Jay’vion Cole for a three-day visit starting on Thursday, according to reports.

The Michigan State Spartans are also in line to receive a visit from the 5’10, 175-pounder.
A two-star prospect by 247Sports in the 2022 recruiting class out of Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds, Cole signed with Cal Poly over offers from San Jose State and four other small schools.
In 11 games as a freshman for Cal Poly, Cole recorded four interceptions to lead the team, along with 20 tackles. After transferring to San Jose State last year, Cole turned in a productive season with 38 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. Cole’s 10 pass breakups ranked second in the Mountain West and 14th nationally.
With the departure of Brooks, Wake Forest transfer Gavin Holmes is currently the projected starter at boundary cornerback for Texas.
