Texas signs 3-star big man Jamie Vinson

June 4, 2024 by Zags Blog

Jamie Vinson has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Rodney Terry announced Monday. Vinson will join the Longhorns as a freshman for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

After decommitting from Vanderbilt, the 6-foot-10 Vinson also considered Rutgers, South Carolina and Ole Miss, and visited Kentucky.

A forward from Austin, Texas, he attended Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) and played for head coach Yerrick Stoneman during his final two seasons of high school. He is ranked as the No. 26 center prospect in the country by Rivals and the No. 36 center by ESPN in the Class of 2024. Vinson is tabbed the No. 206 overall high school senior in the country by On3 and the No. 239 prospect in the nation, the No. 41 center and the No. 11 player in the state of Texas by 247 Sports Composite. Oak Hill posted a 25-6 overall record during Vinson’s senior year in 2023-24.

Vinson played at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy (Austin, Texas) for head coach Cooper Land during his freshman (2020-21) and sophomore seasons (2021-22).
