Former Horns are quickly finding opportunities to compete for roster spots.
After sending a program-record 14 players to the NFL Combine this year, the Texas Longhorns set the program record for a seven-round draft by having 12 players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay that concluded on Sunday.
That left two combine invites — center Jake Majors and wide receiver Isaiah Bond — looking to sign contracts as undrafted free agents, as well as a handful of other players that worked out at the Texas Pro Day, including wide receiver Silas Bolden, tight end Juan Davis, defensive tackle Bill Norton, linebacker David Gbenda, linebacker Mo Blackwell, and cornerback Gavin Holmes.
This post will track those signings.
Jake Majors to Tampa Bay
Ranked as the No. 175 prospect and the No. 4 center in the draft by ESPN, Majors was quick to sign his deal as a priority free agent for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, confirming a report of his destination himself.

In an ironic twist, the last center to start for Texas, Zach Shackelford, also signed with the Buccaneers after starting 40 games for the Longhorns over his final three seasons on the Forty Acres.
Here’s the draft profile for Majors.
Silas Bolden to Minnesota
The dynamic punt returner and hard-nosed receiver signed with the Vikings despite standing at 5’8 and 160 pounds, a stature that set him up to be an undrafted free agent.

Bolden’s return abilities reportedly made it a competitive market to sign him.
Vikings are signing Texas WR Silas Bolden for $205,000 guaranteed, am told. Massive get, competitive market. Elite returner.

David Gbenda to Tennessee
The toughness and leadership abilities of linebacker David Gbenda helped him quickly ink a deal with the Tennessee Titans, where he has a chance to make the roster as a special teams contributor and reliable backup linebacker with sideline-to-sideline range and some pop coming downhill.

Gavin Holmes signs with Detroit
The Wake Forest transfer is headed to the Lions to play for head coach Dan Campbell with a connection to new Detroit running backs coach Tashard Choice perhaps playing a role in the decision.
Detroit! Let’s do it!

Holmes is undersized and has poor change-of-direction ability, but his speed and explosiveness are both elite qualities that could allow him to make the roster.

Bill Norton apparently signs with Los Angeles
Based on the social media activity of Texas defensive tackle Bill Norton, who transferred from Georgia and Arizona, seemingly inked with the Los Angeles Rams.
