Tune in for Team USA vs. Team Colombia on Saturday

The 18th edition of the FIBA Americup tips off tomorrow morning, as the Team Dominican Republic takes on Team El Salvador in Santiago, Chile. The 10-team, five-on-five tournament field will also feature Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, and the U.S.’ Puerto Rico.

In fact, the event is a qualifier for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup. It features mostly developmental players, including both early career WNBA and NCAA female athletes.

Texas Longhorns women’s basketball star Madison Booker is among those featured at this year’s tournament. Her co-stars in Chile include Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo, LSU’s Flau’Jae Johnson, TCU’s Olivia Miles, South Carolina’s Joyce Edwards, and Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes

“This is a business trip,” Booker told The Next. “What’s on everybody’s mind here is winning gold.”

Team USA last took home a gold medal in the FIBA Americup in 2021; in 2023, Team USA won silver.

Team USA takes on Team Colombia at 7:10pm Central, Saturday night.
