Longhorns land former USC wide receiver commit.
The Longhorns are now up to three commitments following their first official visit weekend of the summer visiting window.
After landing four-star defensive tackle Dylan Berymon and kicker Jake Collett, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported this evening that three star Waxahachie (TX) wide receiver Kohen Brown committed to Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns.

Brown previously committed to USC earlier in the spring, but last month re-opened his recruitment right before earning an offer from Texas.

Brown made his first official visit to Utah last weekend before making way to Austin and was slated to make trips to Notre Dame and Ole Miss in the coming weeks. With a commitment coming prior to those visits, it is likely he will not be making his way to those campuses and shutting things down.

Brown is coming off a productive junior season, where he accumulated 1,084 receiving yards on 54 catches and 11 touchdowns. He also chipped in with 138 rushing yards on 15 touches and an additional two scores.
Here is 247Sports’ evaluation of Brown from Scouting Analyst Gabriel Brooks:
Productive big-play receiver who likely fits the slot at the next level but moves around the formation, including some carries, for his TXHSFB 6A squad. Strong track context provides verified speed markers, including an early Spring 2025 100-meter rep of 10.69. Linear speed shows on tape. More build-up speed than sudden explosion, but regularly stretches the field vertically and tracks the ball well in the deep third. Dangerous if allowed a clean release and a runway, including targets in the screen and jet/fly games. Encouraging multi-position, multi-phase participation vs. strong high school competition. Seam ripper and slot fade threat with open-field speed to go run it down when needed. Projects to the P4 level as a valuable piece to the receiver room.
Brown is the second wide receiver commitment of the class for Sarkisian and Chris Jackson, with Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek’s Chris Stewart. With 11 commitments on the board, the Longhorns now have the 20th ranked recruiting class this cycle.
