The 5’9, 187-pounder has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
A three-star prospect by 247Sports in the 2022 recruiting class out of League City Clear Springs, Woods opted to walk on at Texas over offers from Air Force, Dartmouth, and Tulane after earning second-team 6A All-State as an all-purpose player in 2021 by rushing 132 times for 877 yards (6.6 ypc) and six touchdowns and adding 34 receptions for 413 yards (12.1 ypr) and five touchdowns in addition to averaging 20.7 yards per kickoff return.
Woods appeared in three games last season for the Longhorns, mostly on special teams, making his debut in the season opener against Rice and making a tackle on special teams in the win over Texas Tech to close out the regular season.
In the last two Orange-White games, Woods also flashed at times, including making sophomore safety Jelani McDonald miss in the open field on a nice run on Saturday.
Given the interest in Woods out of high school and his tenure on the Forty Acres, he projects as a player who could land on scholarship at an FBS program.
