Learned of a casualty during the game this past weekend.
It was a fantastic day outside for some FC Dallas soccer, although not the most ideal for those on the east side as the sun was still hit by the time the 7:30 pm game kick off. It was a really good crowd despite the sun’s relentlessness, as many people turned out for the LA Galaxy game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all good news as I made a sad discovery while at the stadium. But how about Pepi?!
The Crowd Loved Pepi
The stands were fairly packed, save for some patches of empty seats, which is telling as this team is doing incredibly bad. I’m not sure if it’s because our fans are fair-weather fans, so they may not realize that we were doing awful, or that our fan base is loyal enough to stick to the team through thick and thin? I’d like to think it’s the latter, cause I’m an eternal optimist.
Whatever reason the crowd came out, they were fortunate enough to come out to what was the best game of the season so far! Ricardo Pepi put on a show for us against a slightly depleted LA Galaxy side, and it was incredible. If any of the fan base wasn’t endeared to Pepi yet, they’ve gotta have Pepi fever by now. But it wasn’t all good news that day…
The Sad Discovery
After a search of all the food stands during halftime, I slowly realized that the macaroni and cheese with buffalo chicken strips was on none of their menus. It was an incredible dish. It was really filling for stadium food, a deep dish of mac and cheese with at least three strips of buffalo chicken strips. I’m not sure when it happened, I didn’t get it every game, and this was my first time searching for it this season. Just had a hankering for it. If this could be turned into a memorial page for the plate, I’d try and make it happen. We lost a real one guys.
And finally, your fan quote of the night: “Yeah, I’m predicting a 0-0 draw for this game. We’re bad, they’re depleted. Should be boring.” – Me, glad we’re not doing staff predictions anymore. 🙂
How full did the stadium look on TV if you were home, and how full did it look in person if you were there? Did you ever get to try the mac and cheese buffalo chicken strip bowl? Do you happen to have a favorite or go-to food item at the stadium? Let me know in the comments below!
