FC Dallas must have another international player in line to sign this summer.
We’ve said it a few times here but an MLS roster is never truly complete. FC Dallas’ roster for this season is constantly evolving here and on Tuesday they made another move that could set up the club to sign an important piece later this summer.
FC Dallas has acquired a 2021 international roster spot from Toronto FC in exchange for $225,000 in General Allocation Money. With the acquisition, FC Dallas now has 10 international roster spots for the 2021 season.
Yep, another international roster slot trade feels very MLS at this point but it is worth getting right now considering how the club does have an open Designated Player slot that they can fill this summer. Since green cards are a bit tougher to come by at the moment for the team (nearly all the internationals on the roster are a bit too new to the country to really qualify yet for one), adding anyone from a foreign club that isn’t already an American requires these pesky international roster slots.
So who could it be for this time around? Well, there was that recent Javier Pastore rumor that we discussed a few weeks back. We could also bring up that Juan Dinenno rumor that was discussed back in December as well.
Either way, it looks as though the club does have a transfer in mind that will either cost them that final DP slot or one of these new U22 spots (what newly signed Hungarian winger Szabolcs Schön will likely fall under).
What do you make of this news?
