Two goals from Jader Obiran and one from Jesus Ferreira helped give Dallas a valuable road point.

FC Dallas picked up a valuable road point on Tuesday night in a 3-3 draw with New York City FC.

Dallas came from behind twice in this game as Jader Obrian scored a brace while Jesus Ferreira picked up his sixth goal of the season.

FC Dallas jumped out on the Cityzens in the fourth minute on a goal from Obrian. Paxton Pomykal chipped a ball across the NYCFC defense. As the ball was set to land, a City defender had a miscue as that Obrian pounced on and was able to slot it into the back of the net.

City was able to respond in the 20th minute on a goal from Maxi Morales. Jesús Medina took a ball from the opposite side of the penalty box and then did a cheeky backheel to Morales who was wide open behind the Dallas defense.

The hosts grabbed the lead shortly after halftime in the 57th minute as Medina took advantage of a Jose Martinez miscue as he failed to clear the ball out of the box.

That lead was short-lived as the game went back to being level in the 63rd minute as Ferreira found space behind the City defense thanks to a great ball from Ricardo Pepi and then he chipped a nice ball into the back of the box.

Another Dallas defensive miscue gave the lead back to NYCFC in the 68th minute. Talles Magno took advantage of another mistake from Martinez, who lost Magno on the back post on a ball from Gudmundur Thórarinsson.

Five minutes later the game was tied again. Andres Ricurate sliced up the City defense with a perfect ball to Obrian who scored his second of the night.

NYCFC ended the game with ten men as Thiago ended up picking up a red card in the first minute of stoppage time.

Instant Reaction: First of all, the defense was awful on the night. Martinez had himself a pretty rough night as you have to wonder if he is truly 100%. But on the other end, we finally got to see some of the best out of Obrian. The young winger was finally showed up to some of the promises that we saw from him earlier this year as he was finally able to really put some things together in the attack with the two goals. Also, the goal from Ferreira and the set up from Pepi was just a thing of beauty that we need to put on repeat.

Man of the Match: Gotta give it to Obrian for the brace. While he’s had some really bad moments this season, games like this should remind us of his abilities.

What’s next for FC Dallas: Luchi Gonzalez and company remain on the road again this weekend as they head back to Houston to wrap up the season series with the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.
