FC Dallas gives up lead to tie the LA Galaxy 2-2

October 24, 2021 by Big D Soccer

MLS: FC Dallas at LA Galaxy

The classic tale of two halves game.

FC Dallas coughed up a two-goal lead in the second half to end the game level against the LA Galaxy on Saturday night.

Jesus Ferreira and Franco Jara scored first half goals, while LA got a penalty kick goal from Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and a late goal from Sebastian Lletget to secure the draw.

Dallas opened up the game with a strong first half. Jara assisted on the goal to Ferreira in the 30th minute, which was his seventh goal of the season. Jara then scored five minutes before halftime to give Dallas the two goal cushion.

But as we’ve been told for years, a two goal lead at halftime is always the most dangerous as LA came back. First it was the penalty on a Ferreira handball that Hernandez finished off. The game-tying goal came with just seven minutes to go, keeping the Galaxy’s playoff chances going on the season.

Instant Reaction: All the clichés rang true in this one. Two goal leads are dangerous, tale of two halves. Whatever you want to spin it felt very on brand for this club in 2021. A decent, if not, strong offensive showing only to be followed up by a poor defensive effort. These final few games of the season have to provide some sort of spark for next season and I do believe we’re seeing which guys are giving the effort to stick around here and those that aren’t likely to return. It is also kind of weird seeing Jara finally score goals here in the past week. It certainly makes you wonder ‘what if’ when you see it happening.

Man of the match: As weird as it may see, it may have to be Jara here for the goal and assists on the night. Yeah, I don’t like that any more than you do.

What’s next for FC Dallas: Two more home games are left on the season and we get the first one on Wednesday night against Real Salt Lake.
