When Anakin Skywalker challenged his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi on the planet Mustafar, he did so from a position of weakness. It was Kenobi who held the high ground and Skywalker who faced the uphill battle. It was a leverage advantage Skywalker could not overcome and a situation which ultimately led to the young Skywalker’s downfall.
Certain Cowboys players face a similar unfavorable position this summer. Health, controllability, cost, and/or patience threatens multiple players this season. It’s essentially put-up or shut-up time in Dallas and at least five players are facing what appears to be an uphill battle as they compete for roster spots in Dallas in 2024.
Unless major steps are taken in their development, the Cowboys could very well opt to move on from these players. Patience has run thin and the time to develop has come. Younger players offer better savings, more control and possibly a brighter future.
