When a team’s season ends earlier than expected, front office leaders tend to make several drastic moves during the offseason. The Dallas Cowboys might not be an exception.
On Thursday, Mike Fisher of Cowboy Maven floated around the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys orchestrating a blockbuster trade involving standout offensive lineman Tyron Smith.
“But while he remains a powerful force, Smith is not always a healthy force,” Fisher writes. “And so maybe for the first time, it’s worth examining a goodbye.
“Our ‘Locked on Cowboys” colleague Marcus Mosher mentions on the podcast this week in a purely speculative way – to his credit, no pretense of ‘sources’ – that it might be time.
“Mosher asks if Tyron Smith could be traded to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for the 14th overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, or if the Cincinnati Bengals might part with the 31st overall selection.”

When healthy, Tyron Smith is an absolute force and one of the best at his position. Health has been no guarantee for the Cowboys offensive lineman, however.
So where do the Cowboys go from here? It may be time to place Smith on the trade block to try and get a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The obstacle the Cowboys could run into though is teams being weary of Smith’s injury.
