The Dallas Cowboys traded wide receiver Amari Cooper earlier this offseason in what was largely a financially-motivated move.
Dallas may have saved money by dealing Cooper, but they lost a critical piece of their offense. Judging by what Cooper had to say to reporters today, he didn’t want to leave either.
Now a member of the Cleveland Browns, Cooper said Wednesday that he “loved” being in Dallas and wanted to stay. However, the business of the NFL got in the way.
That’s a good explanation for what happened, but for many Cowboys fans, it’s not a worthy justification. They are still disappointed that Cooper won’t be wearing the star in 2022.
I hate it because he clearly didn’t want to leave DAL & hasn’t looked happy anytime I’ve seen him since the trade. It’s obvious he doesn’t want to be in CLE. Jonses f’d this up! https://t.co/bKBunXeL86

I hate that we lost Amari Cooper.
I remember when he came to Dallas and had an immediate impact on upgrading our offense. https://t.co/8GzQgYV5HV

Acquired via trade with the Oakland Raiders during the 2018 season, Cooper recorded 292 receptions for 3,893 yards and 27 touchdowns in 56 games with Dallas.
Still only 27 years old, Cooper will be counted on to be the No. 1 wideout the Browns have lacked recently.
