In a heartbreaking injury loss, the Los Angeles Chargers will most likely lose Najee Harris for the rest of the 2025 regular season. It’s a huge loss for this backfield unit that had a ton of expectations heading into this campaign and while they have the momentum as they’re 2-0, they will quickly need help to back up 2025 draft pick Omarion Hampton. Harris went down on “no-contact” after a slip, and it did not look good at all as he needed the cart to help him off the field. As of this posting, there’s no clear timeline of what his return will look like, but the Chargers should be looking for some help.
This means they should dip their hand in the trade market, and they could target backup Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former BYU product has been waiting for the right opportunity, as he hasn’t been getting much attention in Atlanta. This is due to starter Bijan Robinson taking all of the snaps, and since Allgeier is in his final year of his contract, it wouldn’t be hard for the Falcons to move on and trade him. After their shocking and blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers, Allgeier should be available for a trade at some point.
He is easily the better ball-carrier and a well-rounded athlete who can help rookie Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal. However, like most teams, they’re also looking for some running back depth, and these teams may intervene.

Other Possible Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
It wouldn’t hurt for the Kansas City Chiefs to trade for a running back at this point in the season. Patrick Mahomes’ passing game hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, so they might need to run the ball more until Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice return. While Isiah Pacheco is still a viable downhill runner and veteran Kareem Hunt still has something left in the tank, they’d be better off with a fresh, younger talent like Allgeier, who could break out behind one of the best offensive lines in the league.
Of course, they don’t have to commit to him beyond the 2025 campaign, but Pacheco needs another speedster, whom he can share the snaps with to move the chains.
Dallas Cowboys
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have plenty of running back depth, but it’s looking more like it’ll be anyone’s job up for grabs. Javonte Williams has been able to prove that he could still be a capable No. 1 back, but with Miles Sanders still looking like his old self and Jaydon Blue inactive again, they’d benefit from a change late in the season. If the running back group depletes, then they should get Allgeier through a trade.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best running units in the league, so why not turn up the heat? Derrick Henry is still playing at his peak, but if you give it two to three more years, he might be slowing down. While Keaton Mitchell did show some type of flash in the bottle, Allgeier is actually the better running back in this situation and could help Henry move the chains.
