BREAKING: Commanders “Shopping” 20-Touchdown Weapon

August 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Brian Robinson has been one of the most consistent players on the Washington Commanders over the past three seasons, but the team could trade him following the ascention of seventh-round rookie Jacoby Croskey-Merritt. Widely considered an afterthought in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Arizona product has reportedly impressed throughout camp, and his strong play could lead to Robinson’s depature.

According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the Washington Commanders are actively looking to trade Brian Robinson. While they won’t give him away for free, this report heavily suggests the former third-round pick is not in the organization’s long-term plans. Robinson is no superstar, but the fourth-year pro has proven he can be an adequate starter in the NFL. The league isn’t exactly struggling for starting-caliber talent at the running back postiion, but the following three teams might kick the tires on the good-but-not-great running back as he approaches free agency.

REPORT: Commanders Looking to Trade Brian Robinson “For the Right Price”

Next Teams

Los Angeles Chargers

This fit depends on the status of running back Najee Harris. The former Steeler injured his eye in a fireworks accident, and nobody knows exactly what to expect from the free agent signee. While he is running and doing drills, the vague updates regarding his status make him a risk for the upcoming season. First-round pick Omarion Hampton is the future of this backfield, but Robinson can be an adequate short-term starter and change of pace back for what should be a run-heavy offense led by head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys enter the 2025 season with the league’s worst collection of running backs, and it’s not particularly close. Veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders have not played like starting-caliber backs in years, and rookie Jaydon Blue is an unremarkable fifth-round pick. Running backs are the most replaceable position in football, but you still need a better grouping than this. The Commanders might not want to trade Brian Robinson to a division rival, but they may have no choice if Dallas makes the best offer.

Kansas City Chiefs

Isiah Pacheco is a fine starting running back, but there’s plenty of room for improvement here. While the former seventh-round pick has an entertaining rushing style, he’s nothing special as a receiver, and his subpar vision leads to missed opportunities in the run game. Brian Robinson may not be an elite pass-catcher himself, but the Commanders running back is better at following blocks and should be able to take advantage of what should be an above-average offensive line.
